Perhaps You Have Already Observed That in Casablanca Human Life is Cheap.
Man. I think I should make all my post titles lines from Casablanca. One of the great films of all time. I was actually going to go with the “I’m shocked to find gambling etc” line…but I opted for something less common.
Big Brother Mitt Romney spoke before the NAACP the other day. And as the Daily Show is on vacation? We get no hilarious clip to link to. But we do get this. Reflecting on his speech to the NAACP, he had this pearl of wisdom to offer:
By the way, I had the privilege of speaking today at the NAACP convention in Houston and I gave them the same speech I am giving you. I don’t give different speeches to different audiences alright. I gave them the same speech. When I mentioned I am going to get rid of Obamacare they weren’t happy, I didn’t get the same response. That’s ok, I want people to know what I stand for and if I don’t stand for what they want, go vote for someone else, that’s just fine. But I hope people understand this, your friends who like Obamacare, you remind them of this, if they want more stuff from government tell them to go vote for the other guy-more free stuff. But don’t forget nothing is really free.
Like Newt and Santorum before him…he is completely tone deaf to the implications of his comments. Routinely, the black community is portrayed as a mooching culture, lazy, wanting everything for free. Sure, they will hold up random black individuals as ideal people to emulate…Justice Thomas…Herman Cain…but it gets old seeing these attitudes creeping into Republican talking points over and over and then act confused when people suggest there is some racism at play. I suspect, though, the booing will only help Romney with conservatives.
Of course, that makes sense. They are standing up for the oppressed little guy. After all, the NAACP audience clearly booed him because he is white!

Of course the NAACP booed Romney because he’s whiite. Why, just look how they just treated Biden when he spoke before them…oh, wait.
Yeah, but Biden is like our first black vice president. 😉
Poor old Romney. He’s completely tone-deaf to what he is actually saying. Of course, he changes course so often, I imagine that it is difficult for him to remember what he has actually said!
