Like Mother Like Daughter
So… Bristol Palin just needed to inject her family wisdom into the Obama Gay Marriage Drama:
“In this case, it would’ve been helpful for him to explain to Malia and Sasha that while her friends parents are no doubt lovely people, that’s not a reason to change thousands of years of thinking about marriage.”
“I guess we can be glad that Malia and Sasha aren’t younger,” she goes on, “Or perhaps today’s press conference might have been about appointing Dora the Explorer as Attorney General because of her success in stopping Swiper the Fox.”
“Dads should lead their family in the right ways of thinking. In this case, it would’ve been nice if the President would’ve helped shape their thoughts instead of merely reflecting what many teenagers think after one too many episodes of Glee.”
Yes, Bristol… People did not start supporting gay marriage or the rights of gays until Glee. If she had been smart, she would have made a Will & Grace reference, and written it off as poking fun at Biden.
But no, she has to completely miss the point of the President explaining how he came to where he is at. He was not saying his daughters told him what to believe, but simply shows he paid attention to their lives. Not all parents do…some are more interested in having TV shows and book tours. Ahem.
Really, if your best move is denouncing all supporters of gay marriage as fans of some tv show, I would hate to think what it says of people who like Sarah Palin’s Alaska.

The Wit and Wisdom of Bristol Palin, could be enscribed upon a matchbook cover. I particularly liked the part in the article that she wrote, that described how important it is for a child to have both parents around, and how important fathers are.

Everyone knows that gay people never existed before Glee. Or Soap. Or whatever cultural touchstone you want to pick.
