Firing People Is Fun!!!

Oh, Mitt Romney.  I get what you were saying.  You were talking about having the freedom to switch service providers.  Hey, I like that freedom as well.  If  I feel the service I am getting could be better and the provider is not doing the best job?  I like the idea of being able to find better service.  In that sense, I am with you.  Now, the problem is, in the case of healthcare?  Insurance has the power.  You notice how few of them compete for our dollar?  It is because they do not have to.  Not one of them pitches that what sets them apart as “We won’t throw you off the plan just because you actually got sick and used our services.”  Car insurance companies will say “Hey, had an accident?  No worries!  Your premium will not increase.”  Health insurance companies don’t do that.  They don’t have to.  In fact, if laws had not been enacted to combat it, things like pre-existing conditions and the like would still be the law of the insurance world.

But I digress…Mitt…how hard would it have been to say:

I like that in America, I have the freedom to look at the service I am getting and if it is not satisfactory?  I can seek better service elsewhere. That is something that is great in America.

Instead you say:

I like firing people.

Really, Mitt?  You like firing people?  Most people don’t like it, Mitt.  Even if they have to do it? It weighs heavy on their soul.  I hated telling my Cable provider I was canceling their service.  Not because I thought they were providing the best service possible or that I was switching for no good reason.  I had entirely valid reasons.  And I still did not like doing it.

Yeah, Mr. Romney.  That was a stupid thing to say… it will haunt you for a long time (in election years that is).  And this is the Republican frontrunner, people.

  1. Sorry if I seam forward, but you are exhibiting a clear case of short attention span syndrome. You need to listen to the entire comment he made:

“I like being able to fire people who provide services to me. If someone doesn’t give me the good service I need, I’m going to go get somebody else to provide that service to me.” http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=7394483n

Honestly watch that video and tell me what you disagree with.

  2. There were so many better ways to say what Mitt said, which is the point of this blog. That’s what Thom said. Maybe you should read what he wrote.

  3. Sorry if I seem forward, but one has to be kind of ignoring everything I wrote to miss that I made the same point and that I clearly understood what Mitt was getting at, but addressing just how stupidly he said it.
