Gays and the Supreme Court

There are rumors that Obama’s nominee, Kagan, is alesbian.

I don’t care if she is.  But some people are very concerned about it.  And it leads me to ask…

Why is that if someone is gay, we presume they cannot see outside their personal preferences and beliefs… but conservative, white, heterosexuals are perfectly suited to not let their personal beliefs influence their decisions?
