Prompted…

So exactly why does using a teleprompter matter?  It exploded into an issue recently.  Why is making sure that you stay on target by having your speech on a prompter such a problem?  When George Bush relied on himself?  He was prone to stumbling and feeding the “idiot” image.  Obama has a tendancy to go long and off target when playing by the gut.  It is not like he is using a teleprompter to answer questions in press conferences.  He’s using it for speeches.  Glenn “What Happened to the 9/12 Spirit?!-Man, I hate 9/11 Families” Beck* worries about who is really speaking.  You mean, people actually think Presidents are their own speech writers?  Even if that were true…why is a teleprompter an indication that the President did not write the speech?  What is so ominous about it???

*Beck…you wonder what happened to the country’s desire to see the little guy succeed…but a newsflash, we haven’t lost that passion…you just are mistaken as to who the little guy is.  Hint-it isn’t you.

  1. It is not like he is using a teleprompter to answer questions in press conferences. . . .

Actually, he is. Or at least, he intends to, according to the first “teleprompter” reports I heard a month and a half ago, e.g.:

To that end, he says, the White House is looking to install a small video or computer screen into the podium used by the president for press conferences and events in the White House. “It would make it easier for the comms guys to pass along information without being obvious about it,” says the adviser.
