Audience Participation…

I am curious…what are movies you would like to see a sequel to and why?  What do you think the sequel could be about?

I’ve always been intrigued by the idea of a sequel to John Carpenter’s the Thing.  It’s a crazy concept, and I am intrigued by the idea of the organism being loose in a different setting.  Maybe there is a sample of the alien that was salvaged and kept on ice for a few decades, and gets loose in a modern military/science facility… or a ship.  The organism is trying to get the ship to dock and the heroes are tying to stop it…problem is, how do you stop it when you don’t know who “it” is?

So…have at it…any genre…casting ideas?  Directors?  Be elaborate!

  1. i would have liked to seen a REAL sequel to the blair witch project… not the BS that they put out using the franchise name… you know? something very similar to the way the first one was done, another group of students (or the relatives of the 3 in the original) looking for clues as to what happened… only they happen to find themselves in for a big surprise in the woods…

  2. The Wizard of Oz. Uncle Henry and Aunt Em die and Dorothy finally realizes how totally unprepared she is for the adulthood as she devolves into a world of sex, drugs and alcohol.

  3. I’d like to see a real sequel to The Wizard of Oz that goes into the rest of Baum’s books and brings in characters like Princess Ozma, Jack Pumpkinhead, and the Nome King. Preferably better than Return to Oz.

I’m also waiting for New Line Cinema to get off their duffs and make a movie of The Hobbit. Peter Jackson would return as director, of course, and Ian McKellen and Andy Serkis would reprise their roles from The Lord of the Rings (though I think Ian Holm is a tad too old to return as Bilbo). You could probably fit in Legolas and Gimli in bit parts as well as a sort of “retroactive foreshadowing,” too. Oh, and James Earl Jones as the voice of Smaug.

Also, a sequel to Jurassic Park that doesn’t suck. Too much to hope for, I know.

(And your current banner is the most terrifying one yet. I stay up at night worrying about your toothy visage crawling out of my computer screen, hunting me down, and tearing out my jugular!)

  4. A Tarantino prequel featuring the Vega Brothers, Vic and Vincent, from “Reservoir Dogs” and “Pulp Fiction”, respectively, together in their own adventure would have been fun, but too much time has elapsed.

Any horror character (Jason,Freddy, etc.) pitted against Ash from “Evil Dead”.

    Another “Sky Captain” movie.
