Christopher Lee Is Connected To Everything.

I remember watching the documentaries on the Extended editions for the three Lord of the Rings Films.  One of the most interesting interviewees to me was Christopher Lee.  You see, he was friends with some guy named J.R.R. Tolkien.  I always thought that made for an interesting connection.  Plus I think Lee is a talented actor who is overshadowed by his work in the genre of Horror.  Heck, I have people ask, “Isn’t he dead?”  To which I must point out the mystical resurrection powers of George Lucas and Peter Jackson.  Oh and Tim Burton.  All have used him in film quite recently.

Anyways, I am working through the James Bond box sets.  Last night I was watching special features for Gold Finger and Man with the Golden Gun.  Now, Christopher Lee portrayed Scaramanga, the titular villain.  As I was watching the wonderful documentary about the making of the film, who should appear?  Why Lee.  And the documentary mentions his connection to the Bond world.  Apparently, his cousin was some guy name Ian Fleming.  In fact, according to the Oracle of Kevin Bacon web site, he is the Center of the Hollywood Universe because he can be linked to any one in Hollywood on average in 2.59 steps. That is less than Kevin Bacon!

How did this happen?  Who did he make a deal with?!  Anyway, he’s a pretty interesting person.  Even if he is not in your movie, you should have him interviewed for your special features section on the movie’s DVD section.

As an interesting aside, he is listed as being in an upcoming movie called Cowboys for Christ.  It is apaprently a re-imagining of the Wicker Man, based on a book by the director of the original 1973 Wicker Man (not the absurd modern one with Nick Cage).
